1. Environmental Engineering

(1)Training Objectives

The major of Environmental Engineering is to cultivate talents of engineering technology with all-round development of physique, morality and intelligence that have strong social responsibility, high moral standard, good psychological diathesis, the spirit of innovation, team spirit, international vision and management skill. Systematically mastering the basic theory of Environmental Engineering and Environmental Science, students are able to engage in environmental pollution control engineering design, technology development, production and management in Environmental Engineering and other related industries with comprehensive professional skills in engineering research, engineering development and design, environmental management, environmental monitoring and assessment of industrial pollution control to meet the needs of Chinese economic construction and international talent market.

(2) Course Settings

 Students are mainly to study the fundamental technical and theoretical knowledge in this area, including Principles of Chemical Engineering, Environmental Chemistry, Environmental Engineering Microbiology, Water Pollution Control Engineering, Air Pollution Control Engineering, Solid Waste Management and Recycling, Environmental Analysis and Monitoring, Environmental Assessment, Environmental Planning and Management, etc. Students are supposed to have strong capability in knowledge acquisition and comprehensive application, as well as the skills of problem identification, analysis and solving. It is expected that students are able to independently engage in the technical development, engineering design, and construction organization of wastewater, waste gas and solid waste disposal as well as ecological environment construction in the field of Environmental Engineering within five years after graduation.

2. Energy and Power Engineering

(1) Training Objectives

The major of Energy and Power Engineering is to cultivate technical talents with all-round development of physique, morality and intelligence that have social responsibility, high moral standard, good psychological quality, team spirit, international vision and management skill. Systematically mastering the basic theories of thermal energy and power engineering, possessing the skills in energy conversion and utilization, and competent in engineering practice and innovation, students are expected to engage in scientific researches, technology development, engineering design, production and management in the field of energy and power engineering to meet the needs of national economic construction and international talent market in Thermal and Power Engineering and related fields

(2) Course Settings 

In addition to the public compulsory courses, there are also basic and professional courses such as Basic Mechanical Design of Process Equipment, Automation Instruments and Experiments, Engineering Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics, Heat Transfer, Fuel and Combustion, Energy Conversion Systems, Principle of Boiler, Principle of Steam Turbine, Air Conditioning and Ventilation, Refrigeration Technology, Heating Engineering, Thermal Testing Technology, etc. Students will also be instructed on a series of practices, such as engineering basic manufacturing training, graduate internship, graduation project and graduate thesis, which is beneficial for them in theoretical and practical aspects. This major mainly concerns the manufacturing, transmission, and application of natural gas, liquefied petroleum gas, construction of oil and coal gasification, efficient and clean utilization of energy, research and application of heating and ventilation, etc. Four years of study can lay a solid foundation for students to adapt well to work with wide range of knowledge.

3.Security Engineering

(1) Training Objectives

The major ofSecurity Engineering is to cultivate professional technical talents with all-round development of physique, morality and intelligence that have human concern, professional ethics, professional dedication, mental toughness, sense of innovation, team spirit, and preciseness. Based on the goal of nurturing generalSecurity Engineering talents, the training considers the essential laws of Security Science and the advantages of the discipline organization in the school. Qualified graduates of the major will have solid theoretical knowledge related to Security Science,Security Engineering and Chemical Engineering Safety, and practical ability ofSecurity Engineering Scientific Research. Graduates are competent for scientific research, technical development, engineering design, safety consultation, education, supervision and management in the field ofSecurity Engineering.

(2) Course Settings

The curriculum ofSecurity Engineering is composed of 4 parts:

i. General Education Courses (including (i) public compulsory courses; (ii) public elective courses);

ii. Basic Subject Courses (including (i) basic courses of Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry; (ii) basic courses of Engineering);

iii. Professional Education Courses (including (i) professional compulsory courses; (ii) professional elective courses);

iv. Practice Courses (including (i) practical teaching; (ii) innovative practice).

Among them, basic subject courses include: basic courses of Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, such as Advanced Mathematics, Linear Algebra, Probability Theory and Mathematical Statistics, University Physics and Experiments, Modern Basic Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Experimental Chemistry; basic Engineering courses such as Engineering Drawing, Electrical Engineering and Experiment, Principles of Chemical Engineering and Experiments, Basic Mechanical Design of Process Equipment, Chemical Engineering Automation and Instruments, Engineering Mechanics, etc. Professional education courses include: professional compulsory courses such as Principles of Safety, Safety Management, Professional Foreign Language, Fire and Explosion Prevention,SecuritySystemsEngineering and Risk Assessment, Technologies for Safe Disposal of Hazardous Substances, Electrical Safety, Ergonomics and Safety, Pressure System Safety, Occupational Hazards and Control, Safety Law (Safety Regulations), Chemical Process Safety, Safety Engineering Professional Experiments, etc; and professional elective courses such as Marketing and Trade Safety for Hazardous Chemicals, Biosafety, Economics of Security, Psychology of Security, General Introduction to Environmental Science, Environmental Management and Regulations, Chemical Reaction Engineering, Failure Analysis, Condition Monitoring and Fault Diagnosis, etc.
